Michael F. Magee, Esq.

Trucking Accidents

Big Trucks are dangerous.  80,000 lb vehicles driving 75 mph on freeways are dangerous enough.  But when you throw in a driver who has been driving for 15 hours with no rest, or worse; driving under the influence of drugs, you have a recipe for disaster.

In the 1930’s Congress passed the Federal Motor Carrier Act of 1935, which sets standards for truckers and trucking companies concerning driver qualifications, vehicle maintenance, hours of service, and record keeping.

Unfortunately, there are truckers and trucking companies who regularly break these rules.  Some truck drivers drive too many hours, falsify their driver’s logs and take drugs to keep themselves awake.

As a defense attorney, a large percentage of Mr. Magee’s practice was devoted to defending truckers and trucking companies in wrongful death and catastrophic injury lawsuits.  Mr. Magee was even a member of a rapid response team that would go out to the scenes of the accident even before they had been cleared.  He understands the technology, the accident dynamics and the steps needed to ensure that crucial evidence is preserved.

Since moving to the other side of the aisle, Mr. Magee has successfully represented people injured by truckers and the families of people who were killed by truckers.  If a Big Truck has injured you or some member of your family, you start out behind the defense.  They have lawyers and investigators involved the next day.  You need an attorney to get involved right away to make sure that the evidence is preserved and your rights are protected.
